adel adili
Co-Founder, VFX Creative Director at Makuta & MCA Timber

Adel Adili’s journey into the world of art and visual storytelling began in 1983, when he was accepted with top honors into the prestigious School of Fine Arts in Iran, majoring in traditional drawing and painting. He continued his formal education through university until 1992, immersing himself deeply in classical techniques, composition, and visual theory.

In the early 1990s, Adel made a pivotal shift into digital 3D art, beginning with 3D Studio on DOS, and later mastering industry-defining tools such as 3D Studio Max and Maya ,well before they became global standards. His rare combination of technical fluency and artistic depth allowed him to seamlessly bridge traditional craftsmanship with emerging digital techniques.

In the late 1990s, Adel launched Adel3D.com, a personal website that showcased his 3D works and experimental visual content. At a time when online portfolios were rare, his site quickly became a reference point and source of inspiration for early-generation CG artists around the world.

He was an active and recognized member of the CGSociety international community, earning awards in global challenges and competitions. His work was frequently cited by both newcomers and professionals, establishing his reputation as one of the premier artist-technologists of that formative digital era.

Adel Adili later became a leading VFX Art Director in the Indian film industry, and was one of the founding members of Makuta VFX, a groundbreaking studio in India. At Makuta, he contributed to the VFX, 3D design, and set development of landmark productions, including Magadheera and the Baahubali film series (The Beginning and The Conclusion). He served in key roles such as VFX Creative Director and Visual Effects Supervisor.

His VFX portfolio includes celebrated titles such as:
RRR (2022), Gang Leader (2019), Savyasachi (2018), Rangasthalam (2018), Baahubali 2 (2017), Nagarahavu (2016), Baahubali: The Beginning (2015), Hunting the Phantom (2014), Eega (2012), Sri Rama Rajyam (2011), 7aum Arivu (2011), Badrinath (2011), Enthiran (2010), Maryada Ramanna (2010), Magadheera (2009), and Anji (2004).

In recent years, Adel has collaborated with Mihira.ai and Oxmiq Labs under the mentorship of Raja Koduri, focusing on AI-generated visual content and conceptual designs for next-generation graphics technology. His work explored new intersections between machine learning, aesthetics, and storytelling.

Currently, Adel’s collaboration with Koduri has scaled back due to evolving strategic directions. He is now focused on founding his own independent venture in the UK — MCA Timber, a visual media company committed to innovation across concept art, digital storytelling, and visual content creation. The official website is mcatimber.com.

Adel Adili is the founder and active director of MCA Timber Ltd, appointed on April 24, 2025. He holds British nationality and resides in England. He maintains significant control over the company, with ownership of 75% or more of shares and voting rights.
